| Opening Reception, Bass Museum, Miami Beach |
Opening for the Erwin Wurm multimedia exhibit, Bass Museum of Art, members and VIP, invitation only, 8 pm to 11 pm. Meanwhile, out in the plaza, or Collins Park, an event for everyone: some kind of performance art involving fire extinguishers, some chanting, sculpture, things too hard to explain by groups you've never heard of, unless you have been on the international art world circuit: Theaster Gates and the Black Monks of Mississippi, Sanford Biggers and Moon Medicine, and Alalaô presenting Ronald Duarte. In other words, it's cool, and it's free, and if you're not doing anything else, it will give you something to talk about. Opening from 8 to 11 pm. Other performances throughout the week. Collins Park, oceanfront. In other words, where Art Positions and Art Loves Music used to be.

Nov 30 Tue It's traditional, and just because Jeffrey Deitch is head of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, instead of a private gallerist in New York, that doesn't mean the tradition ends. Jeffrey, an art-world arbiter, and world-class funster, invites just a few hundred of his closest friends to come to the pool behind the Raleigh for his annual post-Vernissage party. Music by Soulwax and 2ManyDJs. By invitation only, or be a VIA, a very important artist. The Raleigh ain't what it used to be. With a renovation it may become even better.
| Nov 30 Wed So which is the bigger name, Wendi Murdoch or Louis Vuitton? And what if Wendi Murdoch and Louis Vuitton combine to throw a beach-side barbecue at Soho Beach House, for Art.sy, which is sort of a dating site for art and people. Yeowza. To up the ante, the two other hosts are Dasha Zhukova and Carter Cleveland. And here's the thing about parties at Soho Beach House: people just stay and stay and stay, convinced they are at the hippest place in Miami. (Also, it's a really long wait for your car.) Invitation only.
